VCA MINI SAGA #4: DAYS OF BEING CHILD

Tank full of gas. Spare shoes.

I wonder if Mei wants to come.

She’ll have to direct us.

If she cries: she’s on her own.

No time for that.

Time for everything else though.

I wonder if I’ll ever come back.

Or if there’ll be anything to come back to.

VCA MINI SAGA #3: BIRTHDAY

Is it possible to celebrate something you had no control over?

My parents did most of the hard work really.

I dressed myself today: maybe I can celebrate that.

Don’t think I feel that much different to be honest.

Still no letter from Hogwarts….

Maybe I’ll feel different next year.

THE BOXTROLLS

Directed by Graham Annable & Anthony Stacchi

I love the worlds that Laika creates. There’s so much life in every frame and every movement. They never treat their audiences like children, even though it’s their main audience demographic. Whilst Boxtrolls doesn’t have quite the same heart that Paranorman (one of my favourite animated films) had, the film still succeeds in creating memorable sequences and characters that make you wonder why we even bother with live-action films anymore.
